Match Previews

Seattle (4-4-3) vs Columbus (4-4-1-1) (Formations)

In a battle of two second place squads, who are both stingy when it comes to allowing goals, Columbus looks to stay undefeated after their big 2 - 1 home win vs. Philadelphia last weekend.

Bernardo Añor found the net twice before halftime for the Crew to gain three points and tie for the top of the Eastern standings with 6 points.

Seattle comes off an impressive 2-0 win on the road as Stefan Frei kept his second clean sheet in net for the Sounders in 3 matches after coming over on loan from Toronto. They return home to Century Link Field as the favorite (-125). Columbus is a 4 to 1 Dog.

At 2.5, the total sits favored to the Over 2.5 at -115 with +action on the Under 2.5 at +105.
In the 10 all-time meetings between the two clubs, Seattle has a gracious 6 - 1 - 3 record. Columbus, the road squad, doesn't exactly have a strong record away from home the last two seasons. Basically, it’s what has kept them out of the playoff picture the last two seasons. (2013 - 5 - 10 - 2 road record)

Quick Analysis/Prediction/Play:

Despite 2 shutouts of the 3 games played, Seattle does not lose back-to-back home games often. They face a Crew club that needs to break out of their mold and try to steal points away from home to have any success up the road, but it will not be enough. Sounders home win 2 - 1

Play Over 2.5 @ -115

Chicago Fire (4-4-2) vs. DC United (4-3-1-2) (Formations)

Everyone is asking what is wrong in the Capital? Being win less is one thing, being goal-less is another. This club is coming off the worst season in their rich MLS history. A once common site at the MLS Cup title games, those days are long gone. The United have picked up right where they left off last year…losing!

An also win less Chicago Fire makes their way to RFK Stadium where the team hopes to not add to the loss column and dig an even bigger hole early in the campaign.

However, this is not their first meeting. They met in February in Chicago for the Champions League where the Fire ran off with a 2 - 0 victory and the United failed to score.

The Fire has at least found the net 4 times with 2 draws of their 3 games played and sit with 2 points to show for it.

The Line setters have mixed feelings about this game. Both have tremendous value at +175 for either choice to win outright on the 3 Way 1x2 Line. There is a safety net option at -105 on either club, as well on the 0/Pk Draw no bet line for either to win with a bet returned on a draw. That is a great place to look for bettors this weekend.

Quick Analysis/Prediction/Play:

The Chicago Fire have taken 4 of the last 5 meetings in this long-standing series of original teams from the inception of MLS. Until the United find the net once this season and prove this is not just the same old team with the same old results from 2013, there is no reason to think it will get any easier.

Play: Chicago Fire 0/Pk -105 (Draw is a push bet)

Houston Dynamo (4-3-1-2) vs Vancouver Whitecaps (4-3-2-1) (Formations)

Houston flies out of the gate with two nice home wins and 2 shutouts to boot including a 4 - 0 stomping of New England and a nice 1 - 0 win vs. Montreal. Houston now prepares for a scrappy Whitecap group that lost one of their biggest names to Mexico when Sanvezzo left after winning the 2013 Golden Boot with 22 goals.

Vancouver has indeed struggled the last 2 games, finding the net only once in a 1 - 1 draw and 0 - 0 result. It might seem it could have the expected impact an offense would take when he left, but Will Bruin has certainly tried to prove he can carry the load scoring 3 of their young 5 goals on the season scoring in both games.

Vancouver has taken 4 of the 7 meetings since 2011, but they are 2 - 2 in MLS matches with each team winning at home in all 4 meetings. Vancouver has taken both Champions League games they played in the last 2 years. It’s a brief history, but these two teams are getting to know each other well in such a short time.

Even viewers new to the MLS can plainly see that these two have put together a 4 goal game once already and tend to play each other on the offensive as we see no Draws between them. This shows how they both want to beat the other and not settle for a point. Houston is known for its back line and goal keeping. They will not let Vancouver try to play an up and down game, but aren't afraid to get into another familiar battle.

Quick Analysis/Prediction/Play:

Vancouver has hosted and beaten the Dynamo 3 times at BC Place. Houston has had 2 weeks to prepare for Vancouver, but that can have an adverse effect. When you are playing well you don't want 2 weeks to prepare, but Houston will give Vancouver yet another intense game that should see some goal scoring. Expectations of a 2 - 2 draw to make a play on the total.

Over 2.5 -115
Under 2.5 -105

Play: Over 2.5 Goals -115

Real Salt Lake (4-3-1-2) vs Toronto (4-4-2) (Formations)

This weekend, Toronto comes in showing they are doing everything they can to put 2013 behind them. They suffered their third straight season out of the playoffs. They started 2 – 0, winning their season opener in Seattle and taking advantage of a bad DC United team. They are tied atop the standings in the East with 6 points. Real has taken points in all three matches to start the campaign and head to week 4.

There have been 12 all-time meetings in MLS matches since Real Salt Lake joined the league in 2007. Real holds a 6 - 4 - 2 edge. They have taken 3 of the last 4 while sweeping the home and home with Toronto last season. The Reds haven't won here in Utah since their first ever meeting here in 2007 going 0 - 5 here since.

Toronto will once again rely on 31-year-old Jermain Defoe, who came over on loan from Tottenham with worlds of experience in the Premier League. He scored all three goals the team has and will be asked to carry the load up front.

Quick Analysis/Prediction/Play:

Toronto comes to Utah with an entirely different outlook and expectation on 2014. It has paid off in the opening of the new season. They are 2 - 0 and looking to jump even further with a big road win. The line on an attempt to think about the underdog has tremendous value, as we hope to catch the line setters giving a tremendous return of investment action line of +200 on the 0/Pk Draw no bet

Play: Toronto FC 0/Pk +200 (Draw is a push bet)
